Grinding

The adjustment procedure is performed with a machine called a grinding machine, which has a grinding tool, fine-grained and extremely hard. The adjustment is used to bring any component in the shape or surface optimal to the project; this operation follows roughing. While the roughing removes the bulk of the residues, rectification causes all the residues or excess material being removed by providing to the machined surface a high degree of finish. It is an expensive operation, therefore should be performed only where it is necessary a high degree of finishing (such as seats of bearings and gear profiles).

Milling is a cold mechanical machining by chip removal; the operation is performed by a tool that rotates around its own axis on a workpiece in forward motion. Reaming

Reaming is a mechanical process to correct slightly the alignment and the diameter of the holes, called bore, previously made with the drill. It is performed by hand with reamers mounted on tap wrenches or machine with the boring machine. The rotary motion of the reamer increases the diameter of the hole and brings it slowly to the correct value, possibly by changing the position of the axis. To bore cylindrical holes and conical tool it is given a translational motion parallel to the axis.
